How will users know if a virus has been blocked?
Initially, NetEase was sending notifications that a virus has been blocked from entering your Inbox. The intent of the notifications was
only to keep you informed however many customers complained that this was confusing to them so we stopped sending the notices.
Will NetEase inform the sender concerning a virus that was blocked?
We will not send automatic notifications to senders when a virus is blocked. Many trojans use random addresses that are not the address of the person who has the virus.
Many times these random addresses are retrieved from the users address book or mailbox. In order to reduce false alarms we do not send notifications to those addresses.
I received a notice saying I had a virus. What should I do?
NetEase does not send automatic notices to virus senders due to the reasons stated above. However, if we detect your connection attempting to send out viruses through our mail gateways we
will send a Trojan Warning that generally will contain instructions on how to resolve the problem. Since many malicious programs forge the e-mail address it is common to receive
notifications from other mail servers saying you have sent them a virus. If you are confident that your computer is virus free you can safely ignore automatically generated notices.
NetEase sent me a trojan warning but I do not think I have a problem.
NetEase will not send you a notice unless we have proof that your connection has been transmitting a virus or trojan.
In the event that no action is taken on these notices then it is possible that Internet access will be suspended until the issue is resolved.
